LUCENA CITY — An unidentified motorcycle-riding gunman shot and killed on Monday, Aug. 28, a former drug convict in Candelaria, Quezon, police said.
The Quezon police, in a report on Tuesday, Aug. 29, said that around 6 p.m. tricycle driver Rico Alvis, 45, was driving his motorcycle along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Malabanban Norte.
Suddenly, two men aboard a motorcycle appeared and one of them repeatedly shot Alvis using a .45-caliber pistol.
The assailants sped off after the shooting and left their target dead on the spot.
The police were conducting further investigations to identify the killer and establish the motive behind the shooting.
The police said Alvis was arrested for drug trafficking on Nov. 21, 2014 but did not state why and when he was freed.
