TOWNSFOLK in the different municipalities and cities of Cebu would no longer have to worry where to buy affordable medicines.
United Laboratories Inc. (Unilab) and the Cebu provincial government signed a consignment agreement for Unilab to provide medicines in the provincial hospitals in the province.
Under the agreement, Unilab will provide and stock the medicines in hospitals and Capitol would only pay the consumed medicines.
Also, under the agreement, prices of the consigned goods will be lower than the market selling price of the product.
Capitol also signed a MOA with PhilHealth for the coverage of 190,000 families in the province extending to the informal sectors, including the habal-habal drivers, trisikad drivers, among others.
They are covered by the PhilHealth Premium coverage worth P1,800.
The signing was attended by the town and city mayors of the province and PhilHealth CEO Dr. Eduardo Banzon.
Cebu Vice Governor Agnes Magpale and members of the Provincial Board (PB) were also present in the signing of the twin agreement.
Governor Garcia said this as a “giant stride” toward the improvement of health care services in the province.
“We will be assured that good-quality drugs will be provided,” she said.
In her second term, Garcia started providing premium coverage for the indigents of the province.
In 2009, at least 60,000 families benefited from this project.
Dr. Banzon said PhilHealth assured that the facilities would be available for its members.
