LTO coordinates with LGUs to ensure road safety when classes resume
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) told its regional directors and other officials to work with offices of local government units (LGUs) and the Department of Education to ensure road safety for everyone during the opening of the academic year 2023-2024 on August 29.
“All concerned LTO officials are tasked to guarantee that all our roads will be safe for our teachers, students, and parents amid the resumption of classes. Inaasahan nating tataas ang volume ng sasakyan at tao sa daan dahil sa balik-eskwela kaya naman dapat maging handa ang ating mga personnel sa pagpapatupad ng batas trapiko,” Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II said in a Facebook post of the LTO.
(We expect that the volume of vehicles and pedestrian traffic will rise due to the resumption of classes, so our personnel should always be prepared.)
Mendoza also tasked LTO officials to check the safety of vehicles that will be used to transport students as well as the routine compliant check of documents of school service vehicles, and to manage traffic congestion.
The OPLAN: Balik Eskwela 2023 will run until September 8, 2023.
