Bright Academy netters win titles

Bright Academy netters ruled their respective divisions in the 5th leg of the Smart Head Junior Tennis Satellite Circuit 2012 yesterday at the Cebu International Tennis Centre Inc. in Laray, Consolacion.

Zethley Mae Alferez won the girls 12-under title while her colleague Alyssa Mae Bornia clinched the girls 14-under title.

In the 12-under, Alferez inflicted straight-sets blanking of Elizabeth Abarquez enroute to the title. In the 14-under, she bowed to Bornia, 5-7, 1-, in the finals.

Krissianne Issa Kintanar showed her old form when she routed Dominique Ong, 6-4, 6-0, for the 16-under title.

FEATURED STORIES

Another Cebuano netter Hannha Grace Espinosa lambasted Davao’s Andrea Regino, 6-0, 6-3, for the 18-under title.

Espinosa, who is a member of the National University tennis varsity, is home for the summer vacation.

In the boys division, Fritz Satera finally won a title in the Consolacion court as he bagged the 18-under title with an impressive 6-2, 6-0 thrashing of Rodolfo Barquin.

Zamboanga’s Allian Abdul Qoahar benefited from Barquin’s retirement to take home the 16-under title.

Qoahar has already won the first set 6-2 when Barquin decided not to finish the match.

The 14-under title was won by Fernando Arguelles Jr., who survived a super tiebreaker against Clyde Dujali, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5.

Joshua Regino claimed the boys 12-under title also after prevailing over a super tiebreak against Francis Lambayan, 6-7, 7-4, 12-10.

The unisex 10-under title was clinched by Nonito Pepito after a dominating 6-3, 6-2 win over Rupert Tortal.

Other stops of this tournament are Dumaguete City on April 26-29, Bacolod City on May 1-4, Iloilo City on May 6-9, Baguio City on May 12-15, Olongapo City on May 17-20, Laguna on May 24-26 and Ortigas, Pasig on May 28-June 3.
