MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday paid his respects to the late Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople at the Heritage Memorial Park.
He was joined by First Lady Liza Areneta Marcos.
The President’s cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, also visited Ople’s wake.
Ople’s fellow Cabinet member, Department of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla also visited, as well as Justice Assistant Secretary Mike Clavano.
Senator Cynthia Villar and her husband, former Senator Manny Villar awas also at the wake,
Actor and host Alden Richards was also spotted paying his respects.
Ople died on Tuesday at the age of 61. Marcos called Ople’s death a great loss to the nation.
“It is a great loss for all of us. It is a great loss for all of us over my friend. It is a great loss to the Philippines for the service we know she could have still have rendered,” said Marcos previously.
