3 alleged NPA rebels killed in Camarines Sur, Masbate

LEGAZPI CITY – Three New People’s Army (NPA) rebels were killed on Saturday in separate encounters with the government troops in Camarines Sur and Masbate.

In a belated report, Major Frank Roldan, spokesperson of the 9th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, said the members of 81st Infantry Battalion and the police had a 15-minute encounter with suspected rebels in Barangay (village) Salvacion in Ragay, Camarines Sur at around 9:45 a.m.

The slain rebel was identified as Nestor Postre, alias “Barbie” or “Bebot.”

In San Jacinto, Masbate, two unidentified rebels were also killed in another clash in Barangay Jagnaan at around 3 p.m.

Roldan said the 96th Infantry Battalion and the Masbate police had a 30-minute firefight with around 20 armed individuals.

An M-16 rifle and  M203 grenade launcher were recovered from the area.

No one was hurt on the government side.
