Man hurt after jumping onto LRT-1 tracks
MANILA, Philippines — A man was hurt after reportedly jumping onto the tracks of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), disrupting service on Saturday morning.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said in a statement that the 26-year-old male passenger jumped onto the southbound tracks of the LRT-1 Blumentritt Station as a train was approaching.
“The train operator was able to immediately apply the emergency brake when the passenger jumped on the tracks,” the DOTr said on Facebook.
Consequently, train service was disrupted and provisional service was implemented from Baclaran to Central Station at 6:12 a.m., it added. LRT-1’s full operations resumed at 6:44 a.m.
The DOTr said the man was rushed to a hospital for treatment. He was declared in stable condition as of this writing.
