MANILA, Philippines — National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will dispatch more than 5,000 personnel for the reopening of the schools on August 29.
NCRPO chief Brigadier General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the cops will be deployed in areas near and within over one thousand public and private schools in Metro Manila.
More than 1,500 of the police officers will man 668 police assistance desks to be installed in front of school gates.
NCRPO will also deploy motorcycle units, explosive ordnance disposal and canine groups, as well as mobile and foot patrols in transportation terminals and other crowded areas.
Nartatez said dialogues with school officials are being carried out.
Police and school officials talk about public safety, drug abuse prevention, information drives, and other crime prevention programs.
“The safety and security of the students is our top priority,” Nartatez said.
“We have already established a security plan, including the deployment of our personnel ready to assist and watch over the safety of the students and all the teachers and guardians,” he added.
