A former member of the Philippine Army was arrested after using counterfeit bills to buy a pack of cigarettes from a “sari-sari” store in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, on Sunday.

Suspect Kevin Jhon Soncio, who is now working as a security guard, gave a fake P1000 bill as payment for the cigarettes, the Southern Police District said.

The minor manning the store examined his bill and discovered that it had the same serial number as the one he received on July 30.

Upon receiving the report, Taguig City police arrested Soncio who yielded nine more P1,000 counterfeit bills and 10 assorted identification cards.
