LTO: No fee for distribution of license plates

/ 04:55 AM August 14, 2023

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Sunday warned the public against people promising hassle-free claiming of license plates in exchange for a P200 fee.

LTO chief Vigor Mendoza II said he had been receiving reports that some individuals were negotiating with LTO clients for a P200 fee so they could avoid the long queues in district offices and distribution sites.

“They are saying that to avoid queuing up, just pay P200 to fast-track [the transaction] … that is not true, we already have prepared systems to make the distribution process smooth and fast,” Mendoza said in a statement.

He pointed out that the distribution of license plates is free. He asked the public to immediately report those collecting money so they could be apprehended.
