ORMOC CITY — A policeman was gunned down by still unidentified assailants in Barangay Rawis, Calbayog City, Samar at past 11 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11.
Staff Sergeant Ray Alcazar, 46, and a resident of Cebu City succumbed to gunshot wounds in his body and head.
Policemen are conducting a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrators and the motive behind the killing of Alcazar who was assigned at the Calbayog City Police Station.
Initial investigation showed that the policeman had just come from a drinking session with friends when the gunmen peppered the Mitsubishi Strada he was driving with bullets.
A hot pursuit operation was conducted by the police but the perpetrators managed to escape.
