MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has approved the adoption of the National Security Policy (NSP) 2023 to 2028, which he said will effectively address “national security challenges” in line with his goal of ensuring the security and resiliency of the nation.
Marcos, in the two-page Executive Order No. 37 signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Thursday, ordered all national and local government agencies to adopt the NSP 2023 – 2028 in the formulation and implementation of their security-related strategies and programs.
The NSP contains the strategic policy goals and objectives of the administration in order to ensure the well-being of Filipinos, as well as protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Philippines.
“For this purpose, the [National Security Council], through the [National Security Agency], shall monitor the implementation of the NSP 2023-2028, and upon consultation with and concurrence of relevant government agencies, government-owned and controlled corporations, and local government units, shall propose memoranda, circulars and other orders related to the implementation thereof, for the approval of the President,” said the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) in a statement on Saturday.
Meanwhile, PCO detailed that the NSP 2023-2028 was crafted in consultation with various stakeholders and government agencies with one goal in mind: to improve security sector governance
