MANILA, Philippines — Passengers stranded in Batanes due to the inclement weather brought by Typhoons Egay and Falcon have been ferried by the Philippine Air Force (PAF) to their destinations.

On Friday, PAF said they transported 51 stranded guests and locals in Basco town to Laoag Airport in Ilocos Norte, while those bound for Metro Manila were dropped off at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.

A C-295 aircraft transported the said passengers on Thursday.

“The said mission was carried out in response to the request of the Provincial Government of Batanes, which had a week-long inclement weather brought about by the recent typhoons Egay and Falcon, thus leaving many airline passengers stranded due to flight cancellations,” the PAF said in a statement.

Last June, the PAF also transported 86 stranded airline passengers stranded in the country’s northernmost province.
