LUCENA CITY — A driver in the office of Batangas 1st District Rep. Eric Buhain was killed by riding-in-tandem hitmen in Balayan town on Friday afternoon (August 4).
The Batangas police said in a report that Edgardo Sanbuenaventura Jr., 51, was walking toward a flea market in Barangay (village) Ermita-Calzada around 4:55 p.m. when two motorcycle riders came from behind and repeatedly shot him in close range.
The assailants sped off after the shooting and left their target dead on the spot. Investigators found 11 spent shells from a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
In a phone interview Saturday morning (August 5), Police Master Sergeant Cipriano Aquino, the case investigator, said the victim was a driver assigned at Buhain’s district office in the locality.
The police officer said the victim had no criminal records.
“He does not even have any vices,” Aquino said.
An investigation is ongoing to establish the motive behind the incident.
Police launched a manhunt operation to arrest the killers.
