MANILA, Philippines – Police have arrested three men in two separate theft incidents in Quezon City — one for stealing his office’s money for online gambling and two for stealing cable wires.
In a statement from the Quezon City Police Department on Friday, Erwin Albaniel Dizon, 30, was arrested by two police operatives on Thursday after using company money to engage in online gambling.
Dizon was a liaison officer instructed by an accounting staff at his company to withdraw money from a bank on West Avenue, Quezon City, police said.
Upon arrest, he was found with five bet list receipts from a convenience store. Dizon will be facing qualified theft charges.
In a separate event, operatives seized Rommel dela Peña, 23, and Casper Reyeg, 26, in Brgy. Pinyahan, Quezon City, on the early morning of Friday.
The two were spotted cutting a cable wire from a pole while police operatives were conducting a patrol. After they detected police presence, the two fled but were later caught.
Reyeg resisted arrest but was subdued and yielded a hacksaw, a knife, a black backpack, and ten meters of cable wire.
They will be charged with cable theft, resistance, and disobedience to a person in authority or the agents of such a person.
