MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon or “habagat” enhanced by Typhoon Falcon (international name: Khanun) will bring rain in most parts of Luzon, while generally fair weather is expected over the rest of the country on Wednesday, the state weather bureau said.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Falcon is now outside the Philippine area of responsibility and was last spotted 765 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

“Makikita niyo itong area ng kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon partikular dito sa may Bataan o Zambales mananatili po ang pagulan posible po hanggang ngayon bukas o Biyernes,” weather forecaster Obet Badrina said in a morning briefing.

(In the western part of Luzon, specifically in Bataan or Zambales, the rain will continue, from today until tomorrow or Friday.)

Based on Pagasa’s 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the habagat will bring monsoon rain or scattered to widespread heavy rain in Bataan and Zambales, which may trigger possible flooding or landslides.

Occasional rain or moderate to heavy rain is also expected in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Occidental Mindoro with possible occurrences of flooding or landslides.

Meanwhile, cloudy skies with rain showers and thunderstorms would prevail in Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon), the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of Mimaropa (Mindoro Oriental and Occidental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan).

Badrina said that the rest of the country would experience generally fair weather with chances of isolated rain showers.
