Magnitude 5.3 earthquake jolts Cagayan island
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck off Dalupiri Island, Cagayan on Tuesday afternoon, state seismologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) earthquake was recorded 26 kilometers northeast of the Dalupiri Island at around 4:03 p.m. with a depth of 16 kilometers.
Aftershocks and damage to infrastructure are expected, Phivolcs warmed.
The following areas reported felt intensities:
Intensity II (slightly felt) – Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte
Intensity I (scarcely perceptible) – Sinait, Ilocos Sur

Felt intensity is the ground shaking actually felt and reported by the people through the Phivolcs Earthquake Intensity Scale, while instrumental intensity is indicated by the ground shaking intensity measured by the intensity meters in and around the epicentral area.
