Pagasa: Signal No. 3 lifted as Typhoon Egay seen to exit PAR soon

MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau has lifted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 as it expected the weakened Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) to leave the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) within today, July 27.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), Egay may further reduce strength as it moves west of Batanes at 15 kilometers per hour (kph). The typhoon was last located 195 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 180 kph.

“Egay is forecast to track northwestward or north-northwestward over the Luzon Strait, the sea southwest of Taiwan, and the Taiwan Strait throughout the forecast period while gradually accelerating,” Pagasa said.

Egay is anticipated to exit the PAR either this Thursday morning or afternoon and is seen to make landfall in the vicinity of China’s Fujian province by Friday morning.

However, the state weather service said other wind signals will remain hoisted over several areas while Egay is still within PAR.
