BACOLOD CITY, Negros Occidental, Philippines — Three persons drowned in Negros Occidental during heavy rains brought about by Super Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri).
The bodies of Richard Espinosa, 19; Arnold Billojan, 48; and Victor Mahilum Moreno Jr., 32, were found in Bacolod City, and the towns of Hinigaran and Murcia in Negros Occidental on Tuesday and Wednesday, July 25 and 26.
Moreno, a construction worker, was found on the shore of Purok Sigay, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
The victim was fishing in the Mansilingan River when he tried to swim to the other side of the river, but was suddenly dragged by the strong current, the police said.
Billojan, 48, was found floating off Barangay 2, Quincihan in Hinigaran by a fisherman at 7 a.m. on Wednesday.
Billojan, whose house is located near a river of Barangay Aranda, Hinigaran, had been reported missing on Tuesday.
On the other hand, Espinosa, 19, was also found floating in a river in Murcia town at, 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday, the police said.
