DOTr bares details of 1,000 km railway projects under Marcos admin
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) unveiled on Tuesday the details of its new railway projects with a total length of over 1,000 kilometers (km), as disclosed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in his second State of the Nation Address last July 24.
According to Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, the feasibility studies of the new railway projects, which have a total length of 1,024 km, have already secured funding.
Bautista revealed that these projects include PNR North Long Haul (853 kilometers), Panay Railway (100 km), North Mindanao Railway (54 km), and San Mateo Railway (17 km).
“We initiated several railway projects, with a total length of more than 1,000 kilometers,” Marcos said in his speech.
“Roads, bridges, and mass transport systems will be interconnected. This network will provide access and passage to vital and bustling economic markets, such as agriculture hubs, tourism sites, and key business districts,” he added.
