Egay intensifies; Signal No. 3 in 2 provinces
MANILA, Philippines — Several areas in two provinces are now under Signal No. 3 as Typhoon Egay (international name: Doksuri) continues to intensify while it slowly moves north-northwest over the Philippine Sea, according to the 11 p.m. Monday bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Egay was moving at 15 kph and was last monitored 425 km east of Daet, Camarines Norte, with maximum sustained winds of 165 kph and gustiness of up to 205 kph.
Pagasa has raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 in the eastern portion of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Peñablanca, Baggao, Gattaran, Lal-Lo) and the northeastern portion of Isabela (Divilacan, Maconacon).
Signal No. 2 was raised in the following 14 areas:

“Egay is forecast to continue intensifying and reach super typhoon category within 24 hours. However, should the track forecast shift closer to the landmass of Luzon,” Pagasa said.
“A weakening trend may begin as the typhoon passes over the Babuyan Islands due to the potential onset of eyewall replacement cycle and interaction with the rugged terrain of Northern Luzon. Further weakening is expected outside the PAR (Philippine area of Responsibility) region due to an increasingly unfavorable environment and the eventual landfall over the landmass of China,” it added.
