TWO persons who were invited by the police in connection with the April 18 murder of Talisay businessman Antonio Santos submitted to questioning in the Cebu City police station.
The information they gave is still being verified, said Senior Insp. Jul Mohammad Jamiri, chief of the homicide section.
No arrests have been made since the fatal shooting of Santos, 40, was gunned down by his lone passenger in the Honda CRV, which Santos was driving in sitio OPRRA, barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City, on Wednesday afternoon.
A total of P72,000 cash was left untouched in the victim’s pocket, ruling out robbery.
Jamiri said police may have leads on the killer based on a raw information that he was from northern Mindanao.
Jamiri said investigators are looking into the angle of illegal gambling, which Santos was engaged in before he died, although his father said Santos no longer operated masiao or suertres after 2007.
Santos came from the Cebu City Jail, where he visited an inmate Ariel Degamo, who faces a murder charge and other criminal cases in Bohol and Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental. /CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
