Bravo outlasts Alpha in 4 OTs in CEKALCO summer hoops

TEAM Bravo beat Alpha in the four overtimes, 131-129, Friday night in the Center Katipunan A. Lopez Christian Organization (CEKALCO)-2012 summer basketball tournament at the A. Lopez open court.

Alpha led in the first three periods and even led by as much as 14 points, 42-28 at the half. But Bravo tied the score at 81-all on Fritz Desoyo’s freethrows at the end of regulation. The second overtime also ended in a 106-all deadlock.

With both teams hungry for a win, the third extension also ended in a 120-all tie. In the fourth overtime, Bravo finally outscored Alpha, 11-9 for the two-point victory.

Bravo improved to 5-3 to share the lead with Echo.

FEATURED STORIES

Fritz Desoyo fired a night-high 40 points for Bravo while four other teammates joined the scoring fray with double figures headed by Tenie Billones (20), Nelson Solana (15), Roland Sameon (14) and Ringo Reyes (14).

Edward Tenchavez paced the losing Alpha with 36 points, while George Aspera and Dony Panugaling finished with 29 and 20 points, respectively.
The loss dropped Alpha’s slate to 3-5.
