Marcos wants MSMEs to be globally competitive
MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to be more globally competitive, Malacañang said on Wednesday.
Marcos, through his speech delivered by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin at the National MSME Summit 2023, said that a more robust, globally competitive MSME is a key to a more prosperous Philippine economy.
“With this in mind, I wish to emphasize the role of this summit in fostering a healthy and conducive environment for the growth and prosperity of MSMEs. Its discussions on building a robust tech startup ecosystem; integrating MSMEs into domestic and global value chains; strengthening the regional innovation and entrepreneurship landscape; and honing the capabilities of our workforce are indeed most welcome,” Bersamin said while representing Marcos on Tuesday.
Marcos urged industry players, experts and government agencies to help develop MSMEs with a whole of nation approach.
“It is only by forging lasting partnerships with different sectors of society that we can give rise to viable, effective, and efficient solutions to the various issues encountered by our MSMEs, such as financial and market access, skills development, and technology adoption, among others,” he said.
