MANILA, Philippines — Another Chinese fugitive was identified among the rescued workers from a recent human trafficking raid on an online gambling firm in Las Piñas in late June, the Philippine National Police said on Monday.
Based on the investigation, the unidentified 45-year-old Chinese fugitive has a warrant of detention issued by the Public Security Bureau in China for illegal business activities.
Col. Jean Fajardo, the spokesperson for the PNP, said the Chinese fugitive was identified as one of the “big bosses” of the Philippine offshore gaming operator (Pogo) service provider raided by authorities on June 28.
“We learned about [his case] when the embassy conducted a background check and they gave us a document stating that this individual had a warrant of detention,” she told reporters.
Four Chinese and three Taiwanese fugitives were among those earlier rescued during the raid.
