CIDG nabs 2 suspects in fatal hazing of Adamson University student

Two of the many fraternity members behind the fatal hazing of an Adamson University student are now behind bars following their arrest, police said Friday.

MANILA, Philippines — Two of the many fraternity members behind the fatal hazing of an Adamson University student are now behind bars following their arrest, police said Friday.

This developed after the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group served a warrant of arrest dated July 6 to the residences of two suspects residing in Cavite province on Thursday evening.

Justin Ar-jay Ramos Fontanilla, 20; and Armando Bocalan Hernandez Jr., 21, were arrested in Imus City and Tanza, respectively.

Both accused are wanted for violations of the Republic Act 8049, as amended by RA 11503, or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018.

To recall, John Matthew Salilig underwent initiation rites in the hands of Tau Gamma Fraternity members on February 18, in Biñan, Laguna.

Adamson University student Salilig later on went missing for 10 days before his body was discovered in a shallow grave in Imus City.

Apart from the two suspects, seven Tau Gamma Phi fraternity members linked to Salilig’s death were indicted by the Department of Justice prosecutors.
