21 Vicsal Foundation scholars graduate
Twenty-one scholars of Vicsal Foundation Inc. graduated last March.
They are among the thousands of students who applied for Vicsal’s scholarship program in 2007.
Six of them graduated with honors at the University of San Carlos, while 15 finished two-year degree course at the Cebu Technological University.
The graduation party held last March at the Cebu City Sports Club was graced by the foundation’s board of directors and officers led by its president Dr. Edward Gaisano.
Gaisano congratulated the scholars as well as their parents for their success.
“Graduates, you have a way ahead to be productive. First, help yourself, and then your family, and then help others. If you can do that, then I can call it that we have passed on the baton in helping others,” Gaisano said.
The graduates who garnered the highest academic ranks are Maria Aiza Bering, BSA, summa cum laude; John Arnel Gimarino, BSA, magna cum laude; Kerwin Jorbina, BSCompE, magna cum laude; Edgardo Abregana Jr., BSA, cum laude; Khristine Jill Malazarte, BSA, cum laude and Danilyn Lordan, BSIE, cum laude.
Vicsal Foundation’s scholarship program started in 2007 to sponsor students who have the potential but are financially unable to pursue a college education.
To recall, 18 pioneering scholars graduated last year in four-year courses. Fourteen of them graduated cum laude while one graduated magna cum laude.
