Volunteers clean up 4 Asturias schools

AT least 600 people were mobilized by the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) during the foundation’s School Community Brigade in Asturias town, southwest Cebu on March 24.

The parents, students and volunteers from DepEd Asturias, the local government unit, army battalion and RAFI pooled their efforts to simultaneously conduct school cleanup, repainting, repairs, construction of indigenous tree nursery and potting of seedlings for the nursery in four elementary schools in the town, namely, Ubogon Elementary School, Manguaio Elementary School, Bago Elementary School and Tubigagmanok Elementary School.

The activity aimed to provide school children with better learning environment this coming school year.

“The teachers are very happy with the support that the local government unit and community gave. We are glad that the parents are doing their best to support in the education of their children. Collaboration is indeed the key to the success of this endeavor,” said Elizabeth Daculan, school head of Bago Elementary School.

The 12 classrooms in Asturias that benefited from the school rehabilitation will be turned over in May.
