Couple found dead in Nueva Vizcaya

SANTIAGO CITY — A farmer and his wife were found dead on Tuesday due to multiple hack wounds inside their farm in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.

The police said in a report on Wednesday, July 12, that the bodies of Carlos Bala-wa, 53, and his wife Julie, 52, were found at the farm in Sitio (sub-village) Kalingkingan in Barangay Buenavista.

The couple went to their farm in Buenavista to repair the hose which supplies water to the forest area, investigations revealed.

The couple’s son-in-law, who was not identified in the report, went to the farm after the couple failed to return home. He was the one who found the bodies.

Captain Manny Pawid, Nueva Vizcaya police spokesperson, said in a statement on Wednesday that a deeper probe was ongoing and a person of interest had been identified.

The person’s name, however, was concealed to avoid a compromise in the follow-up investigation, he added.

The police said they had no idea yet on the motive in the killing.
