Daily average COVID-19 cases continue to fall

MANILA, Philippines — COVID-19 cases detected daily dropped further to an average of 359, or 9 percent lower than the previous seven-day average of 392 cases.

Of the 2,510 individuals who tested positive for the virus last week, 44 were in severe or critical condition, according to the Department of Health (DOH). No death due to COVID-19 was reported last week.

The DOH has listed 66,484 deaths out of nearly 4.2 million confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020.

Healthcare utilization for COVID-19 cases has also remained at low risk, as official data showed that intensive care unit (ICU) beds and non-ICU beds for COVID-19 patients were 12.3 percent and 17.4 percent occupied, respectively.

There are 3,245 patients currently admitted due to COVID-19, including 382 patients in serious or critical condition, according to the DOH weekly bulletin. As of July 9, a total of 6,437 individuals were still infected with the virus.
