MANILA, Philippines — The country will see generally fair weather with chances of rain showers on Sunday due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and easterlies, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

According to Pagasa, the ITCZ will affect most parts of Visayas and Mindanao, while easterlies will prevail in eastern portions of southern Luzon.

“Kaya for the next 24 hours makakaranas tayo ng maulap na kalangitan na may mga kalat kalat na pagulan pagkulog at pagkidlat sa buong Visayas at itong hilagang bahagi ng Mindanao, pati ang eastern portion ng Southern Luzon,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said in a morning forecast.

(For the next 24 hours, we will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms throughout the Visayas, the northern part of Mindanao, and the eastern portion of Southern Luzon.)

“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng bansa ay mas maaliwalas na panahon ang inaasahan buong araw. Mainit at maalinsangan sa umaga hanggang tanghali at maulan dulot ng localized thunderstorms pagsapit sa hapon hanggang gabi,” he added.

(In the rest of the country, pleasant weather is expected throughout the day. It will be hot and humid in the morning until noon and rainy due to localized thunderstorms from afternoon to night.)

Villamil further noted that the state weather bureau had not monitored any weather disturbance that may affect the country in the next three days.

Meanwhile, he said no gale warning had been raised in the country’s coastal waters.
