MANILA, Philippines — A Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court (RTC) has approved the transfer of controversial detainee Jose Adrian “Jad” Dera from the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) detention center to another facility.

In a July 3 memorandum, Judge Abraham Joseph Alcantara of Muntinlupa RTC Branch 204 transferred Dera to the city jail’s male dormitory at the Department of Justice’s request.

DOJ made its request after Dera was caught sneaking out of detention with NBI security escorts.

He and his escorts were accused of being seen in a Makati restaurant with a woman by the NBI.

Meanwhile, RTC allowed Dera to attend a Senate committee on justice and human rights on Wednesday, July 5, escorted by the NBI’s Chief of the Security Management Section (CMS) and the Muntinlupa jail warden.

Dera is one of former Senator Leila de Lima’s co-accused in a drug case.
