Former Nueva Ecija town mayor named MMDA assistant general manager for operations

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday opened a new solid waste management (SWM) warehouse in Taguig City and distributed SWM tools and equipment to nine barangays that participated in the Metro Manila Flood Management Project Phase 1.MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Thursday announced the appointment of David “Gelo” Vargas as assistant general manager for operations.

Vargas served as mayor of Aliaga, Nueva Ecija from 2019 to 2022 and municipal councilor from 2013 to 2019.

He also served as a representative of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) in the same municipality from 2010 to 2013.

The MMDA, in a statement, said an oath-taking ceremony for Vargas was already held at the MMDA Head Office in Pasig City on Tuesday, June 27.

“I would like to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Assistant Secretary Vargas on his appointment as AGM for Operations,” said MMDA acting chairman Don Artes who administered the oath of office of Vargas.

“His extensive leadership skills and exceptional attitude make him the perfect fit for the post,” he added.

Vargas vowed to be swift in delivering public service in his new position, citing his experience in the local government which he said “honed” his capabilities as a public servant.

“Hence, I will serve Metro Manila residents with integrity and compassion for the betterment of the metropolis,” he vowed.

Meanwhile, MMDA in the same statement announced that Atty. Victor Trinidad will be designated as Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Assistant General Manager for Planning.
