MANILA, Philippines — A bus conductor died, and 13 others were injured in a collision between a private Isuzu truck and a public utility bus (PUB) along C5 Road in Taguig early Thursday morning, according to the Southern Police District (SPD).

The accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on the southbound lane of C5 near the heritage U-turn slot in Brgy. Western Bicutan, Taguig.

Initial investigation showed that before the accident, the truck driver was maneuvering to the left at the heritage U-turn slot while the PUB was driving straight at the second lane.

Police Chief Master Sergeant Antonio Zinampan said the bus driver did not notice the truck’s presence, leading to a collision.

Zinampan told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview that this led to the death of Arnel Aquino — the bus conductor.

“The [body] of the victim was moved by Our Lady of Loreto Funeral Homes for autopsy examination. The involved vehicles were in the custody of the Vehicular Traffic Investigation Unit office for disposition and documentation,” said SPD.
