IMPORT Arizona Reid barely missed completing a triple-double performance as the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters got back on track with a 113-83 demolition of the Petron Blaze Boosters last night in the 36th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Reid listed 34 points, 21 rebounds and eight assists to help the Painters recover from their 108-120 loss to the Talk N Text Tropang Texters and tally their third win in four games.
The Painters tore the game apart in the second quarter, where they outscored the Boosters, 36-12, to turn a 23-24 deficit into a huge 55-36 halftime lead.
The game was never close after that.
Josh Vanlandingham and Ryan Araña added 13 points each for the Painters, who will go into an eight-day break on a winning note. Rain or Shine will not play until July 3, when they face the Powerade Tigers.
The loss, meanwhile, snapped the Boosters two-game winning run. It was Petron’s second loss in four starts.
Prior to the game, Petron learned Jay Washington is already out of season due to a torn tendon in the left foot. Rabeh Al-Hussaini led Petron with 23 points. EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
