CEBU CITY — Five South Korean tourists were injured in a road accident at past 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 21, along the national highway of Barangay Langtad in Argao town, 66.9 kilometers south of this city.
Ramil Purog, 49, said he was driving the tourist van hired by five South Koreans from Lapu-Lapu City at a high speed to catch up with the whaleshark watching activity in Oslob town.
When they reached Argao town, Purog said the tire of the van hit the edge of the road, prompting the vehicle to fall on its side.
While the van was severely damaged, Purog said his passengers suffered minor injuries only.
Personnel of the Argao Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office rescued the Koreans, including two tour guides and three guests and brought to the Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Argao for treatment.
Purog, a resident of Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City, is now under the custody of the town’s police station.
