Tricycle-SUV collision kills 1, hurts 4 in Batangas

LUCENA CITY – A 52-year-old passenger died and four others were injured after the tricycle they were riding in was hit by a wayward sports utility vehicle (SUV) in Lobo town, Batangas province on Sunday, June 18.
Batangas police reported on Monday that the tricycle driven by Remie Nuestro with four passengers on board was hit at 2:20 p.m. by a Mitsubishi Montero driven by Liezl Abdon in Barangay Biga.
Due to the strong impact, Nuestro and his four passengers suffered injuries and one of them, Guillermo Nuestro, died on the spot.
Investigators said Abdon occupied the opposite lane “due to miscalculation” while negotiating a curve and hilly portion of the road.
Abdon was placed in police custody. INQ
