MANILA, Philippines — AGRI party-list Rep. Wilbert Lee on Sunday pushed for a measure that would raise to P6.7 million the liability insurance to be paid to victims of accidents involving commercial vehicles.

Lee has filed House Bill No. 8498, which seeks to raise from P100,000 to P6.7 million the compulsory third-party liability insurance.

It will also increase from P15,000 to P1 million the accident indemnity claims for death and injury caused by a commercial vehicle without the need for proof of a driver’s fault or negligence, citing recent tragic vehicular mishaps involving commercial vehicles.
