Trike driver survives bolo attack in Toledo

A 61-YEAR-OLD trisikad driver was hacked and wounded by a drunk  trisikad driver in barangay Poblacion, Toledo City, midwest Cebu.

Police said Paquito Lawug-Lawug was walking along the  road when Ernie Obenza, 41, attacked him with a bolo past 8 a.m. last Monday.

Lawug-Lawug, who was hacked in the  left arm and chest, ran and sought the help of relatives who brought him to the Toledo District Hospital.

Obenza was arrested after the incident.

Lawug-Lawug told police that he and the other driver  had no conflict and  that may have been mistaken by Obenza as the assailant who had attacked him with a bolo last Sunday.

Obenza was drunk during the attack, said police.

A charge of frustrated murder was filed against Obenza yesterday at the Toledo City Prosecutors’ Office. /CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
