THE Department of Science and Technology – Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) will hold an Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) conference and training workshop on April 23 to 27 at the University of the Philippines Cebu College in Lahug, Cebu City.
This is in cooperation with DOST Central Visayas office, DOST-Information and Communication Technology Ofice (ICTO), the National Computer Center and Central Visayas Information Sharing Network.
Dubbed “IPv6 Unleashed: the 2nd Philippine IPv6 conference and training workshop,” the event aims to gather IPv6 experts, technical users, policy makers and decision makers in the country, as well as international counterparts for an activity focused on lessons learned and best practices on the use of IPv6 technology.
It also aims to create a sustainable group of experts in the country for future activities such as communities of practice and other common endeavors.
The event will also serve as a kick-off activity for the upcoming event “IPv6 Launch 2012,” which will happen on June 6 in the ICTO office to celebrate the 2012 World IPv6 Day.
This joint effort is supported by the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre, a regional Internet registry in Asia and one of ASTI’s training partners, through technology updates and technical knowledge capability building.
Speakers are IPv6 experts from Malaysia, Japan, China and other Southeast Asian countries. Interested participants may register online at https://trainings.asti.dost.gov.ph.
