MCWD apologizes for 40-hour water interruption

/ 08:13 AM April 17, 2012

THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District apologized for the water service interruption that started last Saturday in several areas in the city, Lapu-Lapu City, Consolacion and Liloan towns, and parts of Cebu City.

The 40-hour water service interruption according to the MCWD was due to repairs on the leaking pipe in the Butuanon Bridge in Mandaue City.

MCWD, however, said the interruption was scheduled and public advisories were sent out.

However, Traffic Enforcement Agency of Mandaue (TEAM) head Ret. Major Edwin Ermac urged MCWD that if ever such incident will occur once again, they should coordinate not only with DPWH but also to the local government units as repairs may cause traffic jams.

The MCWD explained that it took them a long time to fix the leaking pipe as the lines of other utilities are on top their defective pipe.

The MCWD said in a press release that the repair was completed at 11 o’clock yesterday morning and water supply was fully restored at 2 p.m. Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
