MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday disowned a memorandum about seeking preparations for World War III.

A supposed PNP memorandum ordering to respond to the purported suggestions of Secretary Guiling Mamondiong of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos

Mamondiong, through a letter, purportedly suggested measures “to strengthen the internal and external defense of the Philippines in preparation for 3rd World War.”

Among them is the enlistment of the armed soldiers of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front, Moro National Liberation Front, and the so-called “Cotabato Revolutionary Command.”

The official was also said to suggest the mobilization of “at least five million citizens” to serve as “National Guards.”

PNP Public Information Officer chief Red Maranan, when asked if the memorandum is fake, told reporters: “By the looks alone, mukhang ‘di (it doesn’t look) official.”

Maranan also said that the PNP’s Office of the Chief Directorial Staff did not receive such documents.

He also noted that the letter has neither a signature nor a control number.
