TAGBILARAN CITY —At least 100 young Bohol legislators have committed themselves to work for ethical leadership and good governance during a three-day general assembly that started on Thursday in Panglao.

The Bohol chapter of the National Movement of Young Legislators (NMYL) adopted the “Action Agenda 2023: Young Legislators for a Progressive Bohol” that reaffirms their motto to “lead with mind and serve with heart.”

“Through our output at this general assembly, the NYML can be heard, like the other leagues, that it’s not just for socialization, but we really have a voice when it comes to pressing issues affecting our constituents and our province of Bohol,” said Board Member Jamie Aumentado Villamor, NMYL-Bohol chairperson.

NMYL is a league of elected lawmakers aged 40 years old and below, which includes vice governors, vice mayors, provincial board members, city and municipal councilors, and Sangguniang Kabataan federated presidents and chairpersons.

“It further reaffirms the commitment of young Boholano leaders to be the catalyst and agents of change towards ethical leadership and good governance,” Aumentado said.

They want to actively and collectively participate in local and national policy discourse and legislative processes to articulate and take a stance on issues ensuring the general welfare of the Boholanos.

They want to build a more resilient and sustainable future for Boholanos through the crafting of legislation that calls for economic self-sufficiency, disaster and climate risk reduction, and cultural preservation.
