MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police reminded police officers and soldiers to promptly renew their gun licenses after the PNP director for operations, Brig. Gen. Leo Francisco, reported on Tuesday that out of the 539,000 expired firearms licenses, 3.6 percent, or 18,900, belong to uniformed personnel.

Of these firearms with expired licenses, 9,700 were registered to members of the PNP, while 9,200 were under personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Francisco noted that firearms with valid but unrenewed licenses are still considered loose firearms. Based on PNP data, there are currently around 1.15 million licensed firearms across the country.
