Traffic enforcer shot dead by motorcycle rider in Cavite

MANILA, Philippines — A traffic enforcer was shot multiple times after apprehending a motorcycle rider in Tanza, Cavite, the police said on Monday.

In a statement, Imus City Police Station identified the victim as William Mentes Quiambao, a traffic enforcer in Tanza and a resident of St. John Subdivision, Barangay Biga.

On May 28 afternoon, the police said Quiambao apprehended suspect Joseph Llagas along Barangay Daang Amaya 2, resulting in a heated argument.

Llagas, who was reportedly drunk, shot the victim three times in the back of his head.

Then, the suspect fled the area on his black motorcycle accompanied by his accomplice Aries Carlos.

The traffic enforcer was brought to Tanza Specialist Medical Center and was declared dead on arrival by the doctor.

Operatives of Imus City Police Station, Cavite and Calabarzon Police Provincial Office, are pursuing the suspect.

Police said one deformed .45 caliber slug, which was said to have been used to shoot the victim, was turned over to the Provincial Forensic Unit for ballistics examination.

The motorcyle used by Llagas was recovered by other police teams in  Casanueva, Barangay Biga.
