Pagasa warns of possible flooding across 6 regions due to rains

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Friday warned of floods in several areas across six (6) regions due to the rains.

As Super Typhoon Mawar (soon to be named Betty once it enters the Philippine area of responsibility) is still looming outside the country, the rains that may cause flooding is attributed to the southwesterly wind flow affecting these regions.

Affected areas and waterways listed by the Pagasa are the following:

Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao

Lanao del Sur (Dapao and Matlinga)

Maguindanao  (Nituan, Rio Grande de Mindanao, Dalican, Allah, Buluan, Matuber, M’lang, and lower M’lang)

Mimaropa

Palawan (Abongan, Lian, Barbakan, Rizal, Caramay, Langogan, Babuyan, Bacungan, Iwahig Penal, Inagauan, Aborlan, Malatgao, Apurauan, Baton-Baton, Aramaywan, Ihawig, Panitian, Pulot, Lamakan, Kinlugan, Eraan, Tiga Plan, Malabangan, Bansang, Conduaga, Culasian, Iwahig, Okayan, Canipaan, Busuanga, Coron)

“People living near the mountains slopes and in the low lying areas of the above mentioned river systems and the local disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned are still advised to take necessary precautionary measures,” said Pagasa.
