Cop, 2 suspects slain in Bataan gun buy-bust sting

Two drug suspects were arrested in separate anti-narcotics operations in Bataan after yielding more than P1 million worth of "shabu."

ORION, Bataan — Three people, including a police officer, were killed and two others were wounded during a buy-bust operation early Tuesday, May 23, against illegal firearms in Barangay Gen. Lim in this town.

Authorities identified the slain cop as Colonel Darnel Alfonso, who belonged to the local police.

Alfonso suffered multiple bullet wounds to his body when the lawmen and the drug suspects engaged in a shootout.

The identities of the two suspects killed in the exchange of fire were not immediately known.

The wounded police officers were identified as Major Dennis Duran and Msg. Glenn Salac. They are now in stable condition at the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center.

Recovered from the crime scene were a cal. 45 pistol, a homemade shotgun, a hand grenade, and ammunition.

Reports said the police team carried out a gun buy-bust operation at the house where illegal gun sales were reportedly being done. INQ
