MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday said that it gave the Caloocan Police Station one week to identify the persons behind the firing and grenade-throwing attack in front of the Northern Police District (NPD) – Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) office last May 20.
Inverstigators said three unidentified armed men on two motorcycles strafed and lobbed a grenade at NPD-DEU office along Larangay Street, Barangay 14, Dagat-Dagatan, at around 1:00 a.m.
No casualties or injuries were reported, although two parked vehicles and the office’s front steps were damaged.
“Bagama’t walang nasugatan sa nasabing insidente, importanteng malaman natin kung sino ang may kagagawan nito at kung ano ang kanilang motibo,” NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo said in a statement.
(Although no one was injured in the incident, we need to know who did it and determine their motive.)
Okubo ordered the relief of NPD-DEU chief Lt. Col. Michael Chavez, NPD-DEU assistant chief Maj. Dennis Odtuhan and Sub Station 4 commander Capt. Ivan Rinquejo from their posts to give way to NCRPO and NPD’s ongoing investigation.
