MANILA, Philippines— The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are working to enhance the digitalization of government financial assistance.

Officials from the BSP and the DSWD recently met to discuss improved ways to deliver cash aid, the central bank said in a Saturday statement.

The rollout of monetary assistance via beneficiary transaction accounts is a priority under the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI) 2022-2028, it added.

“The NSFI aims to accelerate financial inclusion in the country, enabling more Filipinos, especially the vulnerable, to access a broad range of welfare-enhancing financial services,” wrote the BSP.

Present at the meeting on April 24, hosted at the DSWD Head Office in Quezon City, were BSP Deputy Director Mynard Mojica, Bank Officer V Lara Estevez-Austria, Director Ellen Suficiencia, Deputy Governor Bernadette Romulo-Puyat; DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, undersecretaries Edward Orden and Adonis Sulit, and Chief Information Officer Julius Gorospe.
