MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has busted over a kilogram of high-grade marijuana or kush worth P1,696,200 at the Port of Clark.
According to the BOC, two vacuum-sealed, transparent plastic sheets containing 1,028 grams of dried leaves, buds, and fruiting tops were discovered on May 5 through a physical examination of a package by an assigned Customs Examiner after a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) K9 Unit “gave positive indications for the presence of dangerous drugs.”
“Samples were taken to the PDEA for chemical laboratory analysis, which were later identified as Tetrahydrocannabinol/Marijuana, a dangerous drug under Republic Act (RA) No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002,” the BOC said in a statement Friday.

It noted that the shipment of kush was initially declared to contain “cooking articles” before it was subjected to K9 inspection.
The BOC, however, likewise said that a warrant of seizure and detention has yet to be issued against the shipment for violations of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act in relation to RA No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
